In Season
At Fresh Union, we can ensure you and your kitchen can get hold of the freshest fruit, vegetables and salads the world has to offer all year round.
To make the most of the freshest fruit, vegetables and salad, we have split our seasonal products by month so chefs can guarantee they are using the best produce for that time of year.

January
The cold January weather makes hardy vegetables robust and flavourful. Root Vegetables including carrots, parsnips and swede are at their best as the cold often makes them sweeter as the starches convert to sugars. January is also the peak for imported citrus fruits

February
Based on quality and flavour during the winter months, the absolute best fruit and vegetable choices in February have got to be citrus fruits and celeriac. The cold weather doesn't just make the root vegetables tastier but also the citrus fruit sweeter

March
Purple Sprouting Broccoli is arguably the best vegetable of March. It is fresh, sweet, and has a nutty flavour that signals the end of winter. Found by foragers in damp, shady woods, Wild Garlic is a firm favourite with as its leaves provide a delicious, milder garlic flavour

April
British Asparagus is one of the most anticipated arrivals of the year, with its season officially kicking off. It's at its freshest, most tender, and has the strongest flavour right now. April is all about fresh, crunchy greens that are perfect for salads

May
May is the month to shift focus entirely to fresh greens, new potatoes, and the first local strawberries. The first of the early potatoes offer a delicate, earthy flavour and thin skins, perfect for boiling and salads

June
Peas and broad beans are at their absolute best in June. Being interconnected with their peak season timing and sugar conversion speed, gives them the best taste but they are the tastiest when they are used immediately after being picked

July
July is the absolute peak of the British growing season. You will find the widest variety of fruits, the sweetest berries, and the most flavourful salad and sun-loving vegetables. If you buy only one thing in July, make it berries. Everything is at its sweetest and juiciest

August
August sees the final, massive push of summer fruits, including the best stone fruit and the last of the intense berry harvests whilst also being the prime time for heat-loving plants that thrive in British summer sunshine such as tomatoes and sweetcorn

September
September is often cited as the most abundant month in the UK for fresh produce because it sits at the perfect overlap of late summer and early autumn harvests. You get the last of the sun-loving summer crops while the first hearty autumn staples are appearing.

October
October is the absolute best time for the entire squash and pumpkin family. They are fresh off the vine, highly flavourful, and store well for months. With Halloween at the end of the month, they are in their prime to carve a scary face for 'Trick or Treating'

November
November falls squarely in the late autumn/early winter season. This is when the cold weather actually improves the quality of root vegetables and brassicas, making them sweeter and more flavourful. The root vegetables benefit from the first heavy frosts resulting in tastier produce

December
December is deep winter in the UK, making it the perfect time for hearty roots, brassicas, and the arrival of festive citrus fruits. The cold weather actually sweetens many vegetables. Brussels sprouts are at their absolute peak with the frost enhancing their flavour
